Curly Hairdo's!

As promised, here are the results of our curlers. We tested them out last night, I think they turned out pretty cute!

A messy curler head, before...

and after.....the cute curls!

They worked best on Hannah's hair. Do you like her broken "hillbilly" tooth? Not to worry, it will be fixed soon!

Here is Bugga's curler head and cheeser face.

She wasn't patient enough to wait until the curlers dried before she had to take them out. Her hair also wasn't quite long enough to hold them in very well, so she is sporting one of her new flowers instead!

Pyper "didn't not want curleries in" her hair!
Here is her finished product, complete with a chocolate milk moustache and "flower like my Buggy!"

And since Seth doesn't get very much press in this house full of diva's....
He looks pretty GQ. (Can I just tell you how cute I think this kid's freckles are? I LOVE THEM!) I tried to get him to let me put curlers in his hair too, the long haired freak :), but he informed me that HE was NOT a girl!

A funny Seth story...Last weekend while we were in Tremonton, he was helping out by running a couple of the game booths. His dad overheard two little girls tittering about "that really cute boy over there." When one girl asked the other which boy, the first replied, "The cute one over by those games, the one with the long brown hair!" (Of course, being the perfect parent that I am, have teased him quite profusely about it.) Alas, any chance I had of him letting me cut his hair off is now lost I'm afraid! I also don't know if he should have little girls thinking he is cute yet! Didn't I just have the discussion about how I am not big enough for this with his big sister? Wasn't he listening?!?!

I have been a blog slacker...

...but I have a good reason! A few actually! Every once in awhile, my fingers just get itchy and I have to craft or sew something. Well, they were REALLY itchy! This is what I have been up to...

I was checking out a hair site that I use for ideas, and I found these curlers linked to her page. I thought they looked like fun, so I whipped some up for the girlies! This is how mine turned out. We haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but I will post some pics when we do!

I am also VERY sick of not being able to track down my girls bows. I have ribbons in the bathroom cabinet to clip them to, but they never seem to make it back in there. I looked for a cool solution, and found one here. I hope that it works! It turned out cute. I just used a piece of foam core instead of an artist's canvas and it worked great!

Then of course we had to make some nifty new flowers to put on it. My girls are really into wearing those big flowers in their hair. So Hannah and I whipped up a BUNCH of them! When I say a bunch, I mean a bunch! I went to the dollar store and found a pile of cute flowers, then I sent my mom to Sally Beauty Supply for a box of alligator clips. For about $20, we got a new supply of flowers, with enough left over that the girls can give some as Christmas presents! (We used a WHOLE BOX of 100 clips!!) Here is one of each of the ones we made!

That is why I have been a slacker! We also threw in a fair in good ol' Treetown as well. Sorry, I left the camera home, but if you see one fair, you've seen them all so please just refer back to a previous post to see what we did. And subtract Hannah, she went 4-wheeling with Grandma Charlene, Grandpa Brent, Aunt Jackie, and Uncle John instead! She was a chicken and walked down all the hills instead of riding. They all teased her until Grandma Charlene (who she was riding on the back of) had a little crash on the way down the hill! Hannah and Grandma were glad she wasn't on the wheeler then! Don't worry, Grandma Charlene got a couple of scrapes, but is OK!!!

Oh, I also learned how to make links! WooHoo!!

For the Grandmas

Grandma Charlene and Grandma Sch got talking and decided that they need to know all the funny things that Pyper says. Believe me, she does come up with some funny things! So, since we don't want mad Grandma's, here they are...

Tonight we had spaghetti for dinner. I was twirling my noodles around my fork, and Pyper says, "Mommy, wiw you help me make a nest wis my noodows too?"

We were in WalMart and decided that we needed chocolate. (Her and I think alike when it comes to chocolate!) I found a good sized bag of Reeses mini PB cups (we were on our way home where the rest of the fam was, and they think they have to eat our chocolate too). I handed the bag to her to hold. "Holy Moly, mom! That bag is HOOGE! Can we find a buyer so I can pay her money?" Then, as we were walking past the electronics department, she spotted a cash register. "Mommy, yook, I see a buyer!"

Pyper's mouth was just running in overdrive. I know that is pretty normal, but it was stuck in fast forward this day! I asked her if her mouth ever runs out of batteries. "Silyee mom, I don't gots battewies, I just gets plugged in a nights when I sweeps!" Oh joy, she's RECHARGEABLE!!!

I also think it's funny that she refers to Hannah, Seth, and Bug as "my kids." For example--"Can I go play wis my kids?" "When are my kids coming home from scool?" "Have you seen my kids?" And my favorite, when she says her prayers, "Bless my mommy, my daddy, and my kids."

Hopefully, this will appease those grannies til I can think of more!

A night at the movie

We went to see Wall-E with the kidlets tonight. The kids wanted to see Kung Fu Panda, but wouldn't you know it, they are only showing it at the Art Cinema on Saturday's and Sunday's! So they opted for another movie instead of waiting. After the movie, we found this giant Wall-E in the lobby, so we had a photo op! I may also think twice about how much stuff I throw away--at least for the next few days!! It wasn't my most favorite Pixar movie, but it was pretty cute! And we had a great time!

1.Leave a comment on my blog about a memory we might have had together.

Big or small, funny or sad, whatever just any memory.

2. Then re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory.

I think its a fun idea, and hey- if anything its worth a good laugh!! :)

Have a good trip down memory lane, I did! --Tonya

Mason

My mom and I got to go visit Mason last night. It was fun, last time I saw him I didn't get to love on him very much, and also couldn't see his cute little face! He is doing well, but is still on a bit of oxygen. Thankfully, he is going to be just fine!! Here are a couple of pics of the cute little guy! He was getting a little crabby that he was awake and not eating...typical boy!!

Here is his cutie pie big sis Bryli! I could just kiss those cheeks all day! She was such a showoff. She danced and did somersaults for us! I just love that little toad, she is so fun!!

Thanks for letting me come play guys! I had fun and also some mad kidlets that they didn't get to come! We will be back!

Yummy Recipe!

Last night for dinner I made one of our family favorites. My kids told me that I should "post the recipe on my blog so that everyone can make these!" I will humor them, besides, they are way tasty! I don't really know what it is technically called, but we call it "Those Ham Roll Up Thingies." Here is the recipe and if any one thinks of a better name, please let me know! They are super tasty, easy, and pretty (I think!). We usually just have them with a baked potatoe and green salad. Last night was no exception!

Ham Roll Up Things

About 14 slices ham (I usually use Black Forest, but have used regular also. I usually go to the deli and have them slice it about the thickness of bologna.)

1 pound Mozzarella Cheese

1 small can pineapple tidbits

About 1 head broccoli (I have also used frozen broccoli spears.)

Slice the cheese so that you have 14 "sticks". You want them the length of the cheese, just 1/2 by 1/2 strips. You won't use all the cheese-yet! Cut the broccoli into spears. Lay out a piece of ham, then put a broccoli spear pointing inward on each short edge. Put a cheese "stick" on top of this and roll the whole thing up. You can use toothpicks to hold it together if you need to, just take my advice and remember to take them OUT before digging in!!! Put in a baking dish. Repeat with all the ham slices. I can cram about 14 rolls in a 9 by 13 pan. Grate the rest of the cheese on the top of the rolls. Then dump the can of undrained pineapple over the top. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. SUPER YUMMY!!

Small Business Owners

Lyra and her friend Tammy decided they wanted to have a lemonade stand. So, I whipped up some No Bake Cookies, and Rice Krispie Treats (don't die, they even worked!), and some lemonade. This is them with their first customer of the day! Seth and his friend Cole took the wagon and have a "mobile" stand. They loaded up the wagon to pull it up and down the street.

Our "mini" vacation

We had such a fun time this weekend. We rented a hotel in SLC and went to Lagoon and the Planetarium. We have never been to either one together, sad huh!

On Friday, we went to the planetarium. The kids had great time "walking on the moon & mars", hefting the meteors, seeing how much they weighed on other planets, making eclipses, and playing with the interactive sculpture. Then my family humored me and went to the IMAX movie "Deep Sea 3D." I tried to tell them that I was really interested in the ocean, but they decided that the only reason I wanted to go to that particular one is because Johnny Depp was the narrator. (Um, have I ever told you that I think Johnny Depp is a little sexy? OK, REALLY HOT!!!) Yep, it was a good movie! No, really, I think it was worth the $40 to watch my kids try to catch the fish that were "swimming" towards them! We got to see all sorts of interesting deep sea creatures, and the 3D thing was cool as well. Pyper "caught" some coral eggs for us to plant at home, and Hannah jumped when the squid squished in her direction! We went back to the hotel and rented a movie to watch. We are all Veggie Tales fans at our house. It started with Bug, she loved them when she was little. So, we watched "The Pirates That Don't Do Anything" and laughed our guts out! It was cute, two thumbs up!

On Saturday we headed out for LAGOON. I am sad to say that the only one of my kids who has ever been is Hannah, and she went for about 2 hours for the DARE day. Sad! They were all super excited, ad could not stop talking about all the roller coasters they were going to ride. Even Bugga. The first thing that they wanted to ride was the old white roller coaster. Since I LOVE roller coasters, I was happy to go with them. Hannah and Seth were the "braver" ones, so they didn't want to ride with me! I got to ride with Bug.

Things were great, until we went down the first hill! She went white as a sheet, her eyes were about popping out of her head. She survived 2 more hills before she screamed (the people in front of us turned around!) "I have just decided, I DO NOT LIKE ROLLER COASTERS!!!" I have to admit, I chuckled, still am! We rode the nice calm train next!

My son, on the other hand is a roller coaster nut! He rode "Wicked" 3 times, and would have went more if the line wasn't so long! He rode with his dad the first time, in the back seat. Then he had to see if I was brave enough to go with him. We got the front seat. It was awesome!

Yep, it goes straight up, then straight down and then it does this corkscrew thing, and a couple of sideways loops. I screamed, Seth said "Holy Crap." They had to peel the lady next to us from her seat, I don't think that she will forgive her daughter for about 100 years! Hannah wouldn't ride til right before we left for the day. It took bribing her with $100 if she got off the ride and could honestly say she hated it. I got to go with her as well, so did Seth. (I told you he was a maniac!) We did the straight up/down, and Hannah looked at me with the HUGEST grin on her face and said, "This is AWESOME!" She didn't get the $100. Sunday morning she woke up and said, "Dad, can we go back to LAGOON so I can ride Wicked again?"

They rode the water slides at Lagoona Beach and loved it. They were sad that the water park closed earlier than the park. Pyper was a turkey and didn't like the water. This could have had something to do with the fact that she hadn't had a nap for two days! So, her and I rented a tube and floated around, and around, and around, and around ...you get the idea...the little float river. My feet were ice cubes, and I think they are STILL puckered, but at least she liked it! Oh, the things a mom will do to keep a kid happy. I was actually hoping she would fall asleep, but alas, no.

Bug didn't have a favorite part. She "just liked it all. But NOT THE ROLLER COASTER! That was scary." I think we may have scarred her for life!

We all had a SUPER FUN vacation, and decided that there were so many things we didn't get to do that we need another "mini" vacation! There is the Children's museum, Thanksgiving Point, Red Butte Gardens, Hogle Zoo, and so many other things just waiting to be explored!

Happy 35th David!

I could tell you all the mushy stuff, but you would wonder if I had been abducted by aliens! I will just say, 35 years ago, the world became a MUCH different place! I hope your day is wonderful. Thanks for everything! I Love You!

Birthday Parties and Babies

Tonight we got to go celebrate Rand's birthday with some cake and ice cream. Laura took pity on us and fed us as well! There is not a whole lot of food in my house, and since we are leaving again, I didn't go grocery shopping! We had some super tasty turkey steaks and potatoes! My kids were extra excited to see Rand. They haven't gotten to play with him for a while. I must admit that the best presents of the night were the Thomas the Train set from his mom and dad, and the humongous rocket balloon from Grandma Sue! Thanks for a fun party and a yummy dinner guys!

This afternoon Hannah and I went to see Cami and our new cousin. I am glad to say that he is not nameless anymore! His name is Mason Craig and he is about the handsomest little guy I have seen in a long time! He ended up having some breathing problems due to an infection and is in the NICU now. He is going to be just fine, it will just take a bit. I know that I don't get overly emotional, but it was really hard to see the poor little guy all hooked up to wires and machines. Please keep him and his parents in your prayers, they could really use the comfort right now! I didn't get a picture yet, (I left my camera home! I am really good at that!) but he is super cute! Congrats again Jason and Cami! We didn't get to love on Mason too much, but Grandma Charlene and Bryli (Jason and Cami's little girl) showed up while we were visiting. We got to play with her while Jason, Cami, and Grandma went in to see Mason. She is a cutie!

IT'S A BOY!!!

That last post was going to be my last for the day, but my dad just called with some great news! My brother Jason and his wife Cami just had their second baby at 8:30! Congrats guys! They had a 6 pound 14 ounce, 20 inch, yet-to-be-named little boy! I will post a pic as soon as I get one.

Whew!

Ok, that is about all that has happened in the last 2 weeks. Of course, you got the condensed version! We are actually home now for a couple of days. As David put it, "When 'carnies' go on vacation, they go home!" We came home and left Grandpa in charge for this weekend. Grandma Sue is going out to Vernal to spend the weekend. That will be great, he misses her! We are going to Lagoon for the weekend, Rand's birthday party, and just spending some relaxing time at home! WooHoo!

At the fair...

Bugga is just herself! Some things never change!
Pyper likes to help Grandpa take ticket for the rides.
She also helps him to drink a ton of Coke! She is "mad, mad, mad" because he took a swig of HIS Coke!

Happy Fourth Of July

We got to see the fireworks from where we were set up. We just pulled out the lawn chairs, watched the fireworks and then lit off the monstrously huge package that our Dad bought!

Here are some of the ones we got to see!

The kids sat on the Bungee and were enjoying the fireworks. Poor Seth, he is never in the right spot for the pictures! I promise we didn't ditch him! And I really do comb Bugga's hair every day! You would never know it by the end of the day. She always ends up looking like an orphan child!

I hope everyone had a fun Fourth! I am so thankful to live in a country where I am free to do as I wish. I also am very grateful to the men and women who risk their lives to protect my families freedom! God Bless The USA!!

The Killer Hummingbird!

One day, while in Meeker, I was innocently sitting on a picnic bench talking to Laura on the phone. Out of no where a hummingbird flew down and tried to drink out of my ear! (Loopy will vouch for me, she heard me scream!) Now, this is not the first time that this has happened. It is at least the fourth that I can remember right off hand! Nevertheless, it freaks me out EVERY TIME! Here is a picture of my attacker. It is hard to see him, but have you ever tried to take a picture of a hummingbird? Let me just say that it is NOT the easiest thing to do!
I thought that this was a one time deal, the being "hummed" thing. But again, no. Every time I sat on this bench, the hummingbird would attack me! I investigated further and found...

A NEST! This particular hummingbird had nothing against me, she was just protecting her eggs! What a relief!

On to Meeker Colorado

Our next stop was in Meeker. (I have no clue how some people come up with these town names!) It was also a cute little town. We stayed in this 100 year old hotel, called "The Meeker." (Wow!) It had this neat old canopy bed, my girls were jealous that I got to sleep on it! Oh my gosh, can you say COMFY!! I have decided that I have to have a feather bed and down comforter. Sorry I didn't get a picture, my camera was in the car, as usual! The next day, the guys set everything up. I did take some photos of that!

Here is Grandpa Gordon putting some more lights on the Roll-O-Plane. It is so much fun to be able to have our grandpa around all the time! It also makes it easier for us to be away from our other family and friends for so long!

And David is, well, I'm not really sure what David is doing! It is a rare thing that he is actually helping to set up, usually he just bosses people around!

Bugly decided that she would get paid more if she helped set up. It worked, she got a $5 "bonus" on her check! Yes, I go through GALLONS of stain spray on this kids clothing!

Here is the "crew" setting up the Scrambler. My kidlets would spend all day on this ride if I would let them!

Our fun in Eagle Colorado

Our first Colorado stop was in Eagle. Yep, Pyper, Bug, and I FINALLY made it to Colorado! We had loads of fun. Hannah entered Evona in a Dog Contest. She entered her for Cutest Costume. This is a pic of her. She had on a cute dress & hat with sunglasses. She didn't like to wear the hat, so be glad I got a photo!
She also entered her in the Most Huggable. Evona doesn't hug, she kisses! The little girl that won this category had a GIANT white fluffy dog that she rode around while giving it a hug! It was way funny!
And, yep, our dog is pretty cute! She did win a blue ribbon for Most Unique. The judges really liked her color, and thought she was just an all around cute dog! Here is the proud owner and winning puppy!

Seth and Bugga also found time amidst their playing to get there faces painted. They looked really neat! We had lots of fun! Eagle is a cute little town, and I really enjoyed it. The people are all so sweet and helpful. I only have one question now, "What is with Colorado and roundabouts?"
